Matt Speranza is a dynamic leader and community advocate with deep roots in Pennsylvania. Born in Johnstown, his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for business have shaped his impressive career. As CEO of Speranza Consulting and Investments (SCI), Matt oversees the company’s day-to-day operations and strategic growth. His leadership extends beyond SCI, as he also lends his expertise as a Goddard Board Systems Advisory Council member.
Matt’s career in franchising began in 2008 when he co-founded SCI. His diverse portfolio includes a wide range of investments, from student apartments in Indiana and Pennsylvania to playing a pivotal role in bringing Motel 6 to the East side of the Mississippi. Matt’s contributions include opening six new Sherwin Williams locations and helping Goddard School develop a successful multi-owner franchise process.
A dedicated community member, Matt has held leadership roles in local youth sports, serving as President and Vice President of Mars Youth Football and Wrestling and being involved with the North Hills Wrestling Association. His passion for youth sports stems from his belief in the life skills they teach, such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his family—his wife, Dina, and their two children, Tori and Dominic. Together, they often travel to warm-weather destinations like Florida and the Caribbean, creating cherished family memories. Matt is also an avid supporter of Pittsburgh’s sports teams—the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins—and enjoys bringing friends and family together to share in the community spirit these teams inspire.
Dina Speranza is a passionate educator, dedicated community leader, and COO of Speranza Consulting and Investments (SCI). Originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dina’s journey in education began in the classroom and has since extended to business leadership. She holds a master’s degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has spent years making an impact both in and outside of the classroom.
Dina’s career started as a Kindergarten teacher and musical director in McConnelsburg, PA, before transitioning into Special Education in Pittsburgh’s North Hills. She later taught 4th grade at Hampton Township School District. Her passion for education led her to become the on-site owner of the Cranberry Township, PA Goddard School, where she continues to inspire young minds and lead a team dedicated to educational excellence.
Beyond education, Dina plays an active role in her community. She serves on the Mars High School Musical Theater Board, supporting the arts and fostering creativity in students. Dina also strongly advocates for various nonprofit organizations, including youth sports programs and local initiatives like Toys for Tots, UPMC Children’s Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
In her role at SCI, Dina leads internal operations, curriculum development, and client communications, bringing her passion for education and the arts into the business world. Alongside her husband, Matt, she has played an instrumental role in growing SCI into a successful and innovative business. Together, their business motto, “Always More Forward,” reflects their determination and shared vision for the future.
Mike Thompson serves as the acting Executive Vice President of Operations and Real Estate at Speranza Consulting and Investments, LLC (SCI). He works closely with CEO Matt Speranza, supporting various aspects of the business. Mike collaborates with VP of Finance Scott Dimuzio and Director of Finance Giovanni Cuzzocrea on financial matters to drive the organization’s growth. He also oversees operations, payroll, and benefits, working closely with Kyle Thomas and David Horell. Additionally, Mike is the primary contact for SCI’s real estate and development opportunities.
With over a decade of experience as a public school teacher and small business owner, Mike brings valuable expertise in education and business to SCI. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. Besides his role at SCI, Mike has been the On-site Owner of The Goddard School in Horsham, PA, since 2018.
Mike and his wife, Megan, have been married for ten years and have four children: Cael, Connor, Danny, and Brooke.
Scott DiMuzio serves as the Vice President of Finance at Speranza Consulting. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and management over the company’s financial operations, including risk management, payroll, and key executive decisions. Scott plays a crucial role in guiding Speranza Consulting’s fiscal strategy, ensuring the company’s long-term profitability.
A key part of his responsibilities involves supporting franchise owners by handling the financial aspects of the business, enabling them to focus on delivering an exceptional experience to their employees, parents, and students.
Scott holds degrees in Business Administration and Statistics from Cleveland State University. His extensive background includes leadership roles at several notable companies, such as Progressive Insurance (Senior Account Manager), Life Settlement Insights (Vice President of Sales), Fleetmatics (Software Sales), and Azuga (Software Sales).
Scott and his wife, Kim, are the majority owners of the Goddard School location in Chagrin Falls, where Kim takes on the primary leadership role as the on-site owner. Together, they have invested in five additional SCI franchise locations. Currently, they are building a new Goddard School from the ground up in neighboring Aurora, where they reside with their two daughters, Terra and Elana.
Giovanni Cuzzocrea is the Director of Finance at Speranza Consulting and Investments, LLC, where he supports CFO Scott DiMuzio in various financial operations. In his role, Giovanni collaborates closely with Executive Vice President of Operations and Real Estate Michael Thompson to drive the organization’s growth and expansion efforts. He is also the primary contact for the company’s banking relationships, overseeing deposits and treasury services and managing current and future credit facilities.
With over 20 years of experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager, Giovanni brings substantial expertise and financial acumen to his position. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Robert Morris University.
In the near future, Giovanni will take on the role of on-site owner of The Goddard School in Mars, PA, a community he has proudly been part of for the past 17 years.
Giovanni has been married to his wife, Caterina, for 26 years, and they have three children: Giovanni, Leana, and Luciano.
David Horell is the Benefits and Payroll Coordinator at Speranza Consulting and Investments, LLC. Dave processes payroll, manages employee benefits and school risk management policies for 14 franchisees and over 300 employees in the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Ohio markets.
David had spent over two decades in management and customer experience. He formally served as owner and CEO of Horell Insurance Agency, founder of Horell Holdings, and partner at Professional Housing Solutions. Prior to entering the insurance and real-estate investment markets, Dave held several management and sales positions for the Sherwin Williams Company under the direction of Speranza Consulting’s CEO, Matt Speranza.
David holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University with a focus on Industrial Organizational Psychology. He is a licensed PA insurance producer for Life & Fixed Annuities, Accident and Health, Property and Allied Lines, Casualty and Allied Lines, Personal Lines, Property and Casualty, and holds a Series 6 and 63 Securities License.
David and his wife Autumn reside in the Florida market with their three children, Rylan, Reese, and Remmi, where company expansion is underway.
Kyle Thomas serves as an Operational Consultant at Speranza Consulting and Investments, LLC, where he supports all company-owned Goddard School locations in areas such as human resources, operations, and training. With over 15 years of experience in franchise business operations—both as a franchisor and franchisee—along with extensive multi-unit management and human resources experience, Kyle brings valuable expertise to his role.
In addition to his consulting work, Kyle is the on-site owner of the Goddard School in Broadview Heights, Ohio, and a partner in the Goddard School in Hudson, Ohio.
Kyle and his wife, Lindsay, have two teenage sons, Peyton and Quinton.
